CPD powerline Ltd recommends the below guidelines to help minimise the impact our work may have on you.

  • When the power supply first goes off, switch electric fires and cookers off to avoid any potential accidents when power is restored.
  • Leave one light on to tell you when power is restored.
  • Turn off and unplug TV’s, music systems, satellite receivers. computers, office equipment & any other sensitive appliances until power is restored.
  • If you have a security alarm, please contact your supplier for advice.
  • Approx 12 hours prior to any planned outages, turn the temperature control on your fridge/freezer to the coldest setting. Avoid opening freezer once power is off. Food should keep for 8 hours without power. Turn the freezer to its maximum setting for 24hrs, before putting it back on a setting that keeps it at -18 C.
  • If you require a generator to maintain supplies, please ensure this is connected by a qualified electrician.
  • Ensure all computer work is backed up before the start of the planned power interruption.
  • Remember to restore any electric clocks and timers, alarms etc when power is reconnected.
  • If you use other forms of heating and lighting, such as paraffin heaters and candles, don’t leave them unattended. Make sure furniture, clothes, and curtains are not too close to heaters.
  • Boil some water and keep it in a Thermos flask. You can use it to make hot drinks or fill a hot water bottle if it gets too cold.
  • If Electricity is crucial for any medical equipment/condition, please contact us.
